About him:

Ronald Niemeijer is director of global marketing at R-Biopharm AG in Darmstadt, Germany. His main activities are in the field of content marketing, with a strong focus on digital marketing, social media and marketing automation. He presents and writes frequently online about mycotoxins, food allergens, microbiology, biotechnology and other food relevant topics. Ronald Niemeijer graduated at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam and obtained his master’s degree in biochemistry. Before joining R-Biopharm, he held positions in sales & product development at ALControl Laboratories and Unilever.

"Solving the gluten free oat dilemma"


Since non-contaminated oats are well tolerated by most people with coeliac disease, products thereof may be labeled as „gluten-free“. To ensure that oats are free from contamination, testing is inevitable. However: The established test systems have weaknesses when rye or barley contaminations in oats are present. That's why AOAC has defined requirements for new methods to determine gluten in oats.
